hi dude, nice car, i am building a 3d model of an RS500 for GTA San andreas, and i need some pics. if you still have the car, could you possibly take some photos of the interior (seats dashboard etc) so i can use them as textures and reference photos. i also need a photo of a standard RS500 wheel (as straight as possible so i can use it as a blueprint)

Nicely maintained road car. I had the privelege to get to work and know master Ruedi when i worked with Volvo Motorsport in the 1985 ETCC. He is a total gentleman, a lovely genuine man and a master engineer and team manager. Anyone who meets Ruedi realises what a total nice Swiss gentleman he is..

Hello. Well done on all the hard work you have put into the car to get it looking the way it does here on your site. It is truly an amazing example, and a credit to the effort you have obviously invested in the car. I was driving home from work tonight, and followed a Sierra Cosworth 3 door through Dundee. It was stunning, and led me to come home and browse them on the net. Absolutely worshipped this car as a teenager, and now as a thirtysomething VW enthusiast, i find myself longing for what has always been my dream car. My friend used to own a Series 1 Escort RS turbo, and we attended many RS Owners Club regional and national days throught Britain. We were there at Donnington for the 25th Anniversary of the Sierra Cosworth, and it was an amazing sight seeing over 50 three door models parading around the Donnington circuit. Still an awesome car after all these years. Keep up the good work, and thank you for sharing your pride and joy with us ( even if it makes us jealous ) Regards, David - Scotland

I owned a rs500 from sep.87 to dec 90. Excellent looks and performance but in 96000 miles proved unreliable and expensive to repair. History of repairs, new cylinder head, new gearbox, new alternator, countless brackets that attached the turbo to the block, spent too long in Haynes rally sport garage. Still, I had great fun with it, and to repeat a comment made by the motoring press, Police tried to book you for speeding even when parked . Wish I still had it.

Did you retune the car for the 500 hp with the new map and 8 injectors and what other tid bits needed? im green on the 500 but i build xr rally cars and would love to just have a cosworth sweet car though!

Bloody brilliant car! As I live in Australia, I only ever got to see them on the race track, although a small number were imported as low mileage second-hand vehicles costing around $90, 000 Australian dollars!
As a race car they were the most successful Ford product ever seen in Australia. One of our local race teams (Dick Johnson Racing) owned & built the world's quickest Sierras - with around 700hp in qualifying trim and 640hp in race trim they were an awesome sight to behold as they blitzed every other car on the track.
I would be great to own an RS 500 - maybe sometime in the future I might just get my hands on one.

my friends dad had a saphire cosworth followed by the 4x4 version i remember it was like a bullet car and always wanted one since my riends dad loved his one so much he still has it one owner from new standard car

Very nice website. I live in the US so the Internet is about as close as we get to ANYTHING Cosworth. Take a look at newenglandclassics.com and take a look at that Sierra. I'm considering. I find it hard to believe that they didn't "smuggle" one in somehow. I can't see someone replacing the rear quarter panels just to get that single side glass! How about a very close frontal shot about hood high? Take care of your "missle" sir. There's a lot of Ford Blue Bloods over here that envy you.

I work in the airline industry and can compare this to CONCORDE which was the ultimate in flying as the cosworth is to cars.
I my self own moonstone blue cosworth (not 500) Had it 9yrs can't say any but its supersonic.

Today I have died and gone to heaven, after much sreaching I have managed to purchase a MINT white RS500 with only 9,365 miles from a private collector. I am over the moon with it even though it has cost me £30k, worth every penny.

Hi - Great site even better car. Good to see there is still a passion for these fantastic cars. I own an RS500 (third owner from new). Bought it in 1998 with genuine 6800 miles on the clock. Has about 7600 miles now!! Fantastic car, great on the road even better on the track. Keep promising to get it out of storage and on the road - just scared of the idiots out there who still like to nick them!

Friend of mine has a 500 with 13k on the clock - doesn't use it, original condition and totally undamaged, but could do with a dust and polish.

Great RS, I have a XR4TI MERKUR . I only dream of finding a RS 500 in the states ha,ha. That will be never, So i just deal with my merkur hopeing to find a motor and body kit from a RS. THAT WOULD BE BAD ASS!!!!! GOOD LUCK ON KEEPING HER FRESH&PREFECT IT LOOK LIKE SHE HAS GOOD HISTORY.

well at that time i was still very young but i can remember it clearly. i am from Malta and there are a couple of rs 500s here im sure about 5 or 6 genuine ones well i wish i had one to but here it is so difficult too find or bring one over tax are too much but im glad that such a beautiful car has such a great owner good luck and take care of her bye bye

Mines far less original having been Fords 'Parts Validation' car as soon as it left Tickford... yeah it was sent back to Germany for them to take apart!

my friend im 16 my dad has had 4 cosworth 1 being rs500 and 3 being from 311hp upto 500hp replicating the decals of the brooklyn and texaco car which were at donnington loads of times... but i have to say your write up on rs500 history is the best i have ever read NICE ONE!!

butiful car!!! my english is baaad.... i am building a cosworth saphire 88mod for racing. i just bought a complete original imsa inlet manifoild made of magnesium... 2770£. the turbo is a imsa audi turbo,and so on. i am going fore 680/700bhp.. parts is wery ekspensive in norway.. i have spent ca 28000£ on it. (and i am still married)

Very neat website. To be honest always preferred Sapphire Cosworths but after collecting all the 1:18 scale "big wing" models liked them so much was lucky enough to be able to get one as well. This site is certainly a credit to the RS500, good luck, regards

your car is a credit to the rs 500 brand i own one myself build number353 mine to is standard apart from the fact years ago some swine pinched the front bumper from the previous keeper in the late 80,s so i have a 3 door bumper never mind the only negative is that your car has to many keepers

with a friend off mine we are trying to build a database off how many 500's are left we will be doing a web sight when we get a few more build no's at the moment we have over 100 that are left it will be similar to the rs200 web sight www.rs200.org.

Interesting site, it should do well mate. Your car looks gorgeous, i would love one of these one day. Is your 500 the one featured in Rallye News back a year or so ago, with pictures of it driving through the Scottish landscapes? That was a concourse car, i will have to dig the article out again and get back to you.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. Power is up due to different MAP sensor, injectors and modified EEPROM. I have the original parts for concours events. I am not sure if it's the same car in Rallye News as I have only had the car 3 weeks so far, sorry...! If you can dig out any info I will try and confirm either way. A few people mentioned there was about 6 like this, but I have no idea of the whereabouts of the others I'm afraid.

This is going to be another chapter in her history...look after her, cos she is worth it..!
